Beach Cake!

Now that I'm back in action, my friend Emily didn't think twice about asking me to make her mom's Birthday cake!

Since her mom is planning to escape winter in a few weeks with a trip to Florida, Emily thought it would be cute to make it a beachy themed cake!

I coloured the cake different shades of blue and green for an oceany feel, and added some seaweed all around! On the cakeboard, I put crushed up Graham Crackers and brown sugar for sand, and topped it off with hand crafted seashells and starfish!

She loved it! And working on a beach themed cake was definitely a nice change from the white stuff outside!

Year of the Rabbit (and Bear!) Cupcakes

After the smashing success of the first set of Teddy Bear cupcakes that I left with the girls at the jewelry store, they knew they wanted more of my yummy creations for their Year of the Rabbit Chinese New Year shopping party!

No decorated baked good can go to this store without a signature Teddy on top, so I did half of the cupcakes with the bears, and the other half with rabbits!

They were such a hit! Before I could finish bringing in the last box of cupcakes, customers were already eating them! Everyone loved them! And of course, I can never walk out of the store without buying a little (or big!) something, so all in all, it was another successful cupcake delivery and shopping trip!

Shopping Bags Cake!

When I was asked to make a shopping themed cake, I immediately fell in love with the idea! As a recovering shopaholic myself, I knew what a shopping cake needed to look like!

Complete with Michael Kors, Coach, Holt Renfrew, Chanel and Victoria's Secret shopping bags and a box of cupcakes, this cake is any shopaholic's dream come true!

The birthday girl loved her cake so much, she didn't even cut into it until the next day!

Shoppers unite! :)

Glee Cake!

At the beginning of the year, I turned down so many cakes thinking I'd never be able to handle a hectic cake schedule on top of 40 hours of pastry school a week! Now that I'm settled into my new 8-4, Monday-Friday school schedule (after 4 years of Tuesday/Thursday schedules at university!), I feel ready to take on some cakes!

My first order? A belated Birthday cake for my friend Emily, a die-hard Gleek!

She loved it! It was the perfect belated Birthday cake - representing all the Gleeks out there! :)
