'Will You Be My Bridesmaid' Dress Sugar Cookies!

After getting engaged to the love of my life this past July, I knew I had to get crackin on the planning of our October 2013 wedding! Eek!
Though there was so much to do in such a short time, I knew I had to squeeze in special sweets for my special ladies!!
To ask my nearest and dearest girlies to be a part of my big day, I made these 'Will You Be My Bridesmaid' sugar cookies!

Packaged in cellophane with a cute poem, then wrapped up all rustic with a touch of lace, these cookies were the perfect way to ask my now bridesmaids to accept the position!
Now for the wedding cake.....

Pretty Peach & Peony Cake!

This past weekend we celebrated my boyfriend's sisters birthday! And though I've been super swamped at work, I knew I wanted to make her something special!

Having zero time to really think about and plan what I wanted to do, I messaged my friend Meredith and asked her for an idea for a colour combo. Her reply? "Peach and white!"

I loved it!

So here it is!

I went with an embossed pattern peach cake, a big white offset peony and some gold accents for a little pop and contrast!

The cake was a huge hit! Everyone loved it, especially the birthday girl! And since I've been so busy at work lately, the leftovers doubled as dessert for Father's Day! :P

Family Portrait: Black, White & Bling Cake!

Next up in my new lineup of family portraits of sweet treats is this glamorous set of black, white and blingy desserts!
Without further ado, here it is!

The pop of green from the magnolias against the classy and understated black, white and blingy background just pulled the whole look together! Instead of letting the bling take over the design, I added just small and tasteful blingy accents to take the black and white look to a whole new level!
I had so much fun designing and creating this fabulous looking family and cannot wait to make more just like it!! :)

Family Portrait: FontaineBLEU - Blue, Red, Ombré, Petals & Ruffles Galore!

I am extremely pleased to share my very first family of desserts! Looking faaaaabulous when aligned, these delicious delights are perfect for any occasion-big or small!-and are a stunning addition to any sweet table!

Introducing FontaineBLEU!

This family includes a mama bear

Baby bear #1

4 little cupcakes

Baby bear #2

And 4 delightful sugar cookies!

With this first family, I just looooved the way the pop of bright red looked against a soft cornflower BLEU! I also wanted to incorporate an ombré effect with an aqua colour fading into the cornflower blue. The subtle contrast of the blues with that burst of red is just so lively and vibrant and I was soooo happy with the way it turned out!

Stay tuned for more to come! :)

Springtime Sugar Cookies!

Spring is finally in the air and to celebrate that, my boyfriend asked me to make some springtime sugar cookies to hand out to his customers in anticipation of the upcoming grass-cutting season!
Here they are!

They were soooo cute and pretty and springtimey but my boyfriend was soooo busy preparing for the upcoming season that he forgot about the cookies!!!
It's the thought that counts right? And at least I have photographic evidence of their existence!
Maybe next year!

Pretty Flower Sugar Cookies!

After the smashing success of my last batch of Thank You sugar cookies, I was asked to make some more! What better way to show appreciation than with a box of gourmet, beautifully decorated sugar cookies?!

I was given carte-blanche except that I should incorporate purple and pink. Easy Peasy!

I decided to add some blue flowers as well, I was feeling very Spring-inspired!

Instead of doing the teeny tiny flowers that I did on the last set of cookies, I wanted these cookies to be allllllllll flower! So I made giant colourful flowers that really pop against the white background!

All packaged and ready to go :)

The cookies were a hit! I really really really really love doing sugar cookies. The possibilities are just endless and the outcome is always fab! They are just always so fun to make!

Can't wait for the next batch!

Peabutter Cookies!

I may not have previously mentioned this, but unfortunately, I have a nut allergy that I developped a few years ago! I dont exactly know the extent of the allergy, but I've never really been much of a nut person so it doesn't bother me too much. Except for the fact that I used to loooooooove Nutella and Ferrero Rocher, yummmmm, and now I can only watch others enjoy such delicious treats!

Luckily I'm not allergic to peanuts, but I must admit, I've also never really enjoyed them either. I never even liked the taste of peanut butter!

Last week, I was working at this amazing place that offers healthy cooking and nutrition classes to kids! They had a special March break cooking camp so all day everyday we made yummy and nutritious foods. That is where I was introduced to PEABUTTER!

It's nut free, peanut free, gluten free, trans fat free and soooooooo delicious! It's peanut butter LIKE, but not quite the same! It's everything that I like about peanut butter, but BETTER!

Last week we used this peabutter to make golden peabutter cookies. After I had a bite of those, I knew I needed to a) buy this stuff for the house, and b) make those cookies ASAP!

So after I found this yummy stuff in the grocery store, I went home and got busy!

My delicious cookie dough.

Ready to bake.

Yummy yummy scrumptious cookies ready to eat!

After I first tried these peabutter cookies/peabutter in general, I was hooked immediately. Trying to explain it to others, however, is a challenge. "Does it taste like Hummus??" I was asked after expressing my new found love for peabutter. No, no it does not taste like Hummus!!

Anyone who questions peabutter will quickly understand after tasting these bad boys. It's my new mission! :)

Thank You Sugar Cookies!

As I've mentioned before, I moved to Toronto a few months ago. Right after I moved, I noticed I wasn't really feeling quite like myself! I brushed it off and assumed that I was just acclimating to this new big change in my life!

A few weeks ago, I finally decided that it was time to get medical attention. After my blood test showed inflammation, I was referred to a gastroenterologist and scheduled for a colonoscopy. Finally, On February 14th, 2013, after months of suffering, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. It was certainly not the finest Valentine's Day I had experienced in my life, but I was glad to finally know the cause of my symptoms!

I was immediately prescribed several different medications to help get my symptoms under control and to get me into remission!

Yesterday was my follow-up appointment with my doctor and feeling so relieved to finally have answers and to finally be feeling better, I wanted to show my appreciation. What better way to say thanks than with delicious and beautiful sugar cookies?!

After the smashing success of my boyfriend's grandmother's birthday cake, I just had to see how these colours would look on elegant and dainty sugar cookies! They were perfect!

I believe that presentation is very important! So I packaged the cookies in a clear top-box with taupe stuffing and tied it all up with a coral ribbon to match the flowers!

My doctor was very appreciative, but not nearly as appreciative as I am! I feel so lucky to have such a great doctor in my corner and with her care and guidance, I am sure that remission is just around the corner for me!

For information on my newly diagnosed chronic disease, please visit www.ccfc.ca and most importantly, if you are experiencing any symptoms listed, please please PLEASE don't let the shame stop you from seeking medical attention! Life is nothing without health so take care of yours! :)

White & Blue Painted Flower Cake!

It was my grandmother's Birthday last Friday and being a recent transfer from Montreal to Toronto, I'd finally get to celebrate her Birthday with her since she too lives in the T.!

I just knew I wanted to make her something special and I had several ideas floating around in my noggin but one stood out in particular!

I have these blue and white dishes that a friend & co-worker from Montreal bought for me before I made the move to Toronto, and everytime my grandmother comes over she raaaaves about the dishes and the colours! With that in mind, I have been dying to make a painted cake! So I smooshed those two ideas together and got to work!

Here are my white petals waiting to be dusted.

Coloured and assembled:

First part of painting DONE!

And all put together...

And of course, matching cupcakes!

Everyone looooooved the cake! I was so happy with the way it turned out! I really just LOVE the look of painted cakes and it was soooooo much fun to make!

Definitely one of my new faves! :)
